Get Involved!
Students in grades 7-12 are invited and encouraged to become a part of the various performing arts groups at West Lyon: band, vocal, drama, and speech.
Students in many of the groups have already begun work the past couple of weeks on their fall and winter performances, and more opportunities are yet to come. One of West Lyon's school goals is to help students feel connected to school. We can accomplish this by encouraging our students to be active in a variety of extra-curricular activities. In addition, research shows that students who participate in extra-curricular activities have higher self-esteem, better experiences in the classroom, and are likely to become leaders in their communities. Any students or parents wanting more information about the opportunities at West Lyon should contact:

      Costume and Prop Rooms
Over the years, the drama department has worked diligently to collect a variety of costumes and props that we use for our shows. We are thankful so many people have donated items and that we are able to store them for future use.

If you are in need of costumes or props for your class, group, or production, please see Trish Lombard for costumes or Roselyn Schillerstrom for props. If you are interested in using the stage, please contact Kent Knudson.

Splash into Speech!
Students who are past and future Large and Individual Speech participants are invited to meet Tuesday, September 17th at 6pm in Ms. Metzger’s classroom.

Students will meet the coaches and other participants, get information about becoming a speech club officer, find out about upcoming events, and learn about the t-shirt design contest. See Ms. Metzger or Mrs. Monstma for more information.
      WL Marching Band
Rock N Roll Hall of Famer Billy Joel has had some of the most recognizable songs over the past 30 years. This year’s show opens up with We Didn’t Start the Fire and boldly transitions into Piano Man. Song two includes sections of My Life and Only the Good Die Young with a trumpet solo by Talon Meyer and a guard solo by Tressa Munger. Moving on will be Air featuring the band’s lyrical abilities as well as the pit and drum-line. Lastly, the band will close their performance with Just The Way You Are including a reprise of We Didn't Start the Fire.
