- 7-12 Art Teacher

The Art Teacher will be responsible for developing in each student an interest in and the ability for creative expression in visual terms, using skills and techniques of artistic expression consistent with the Department of Education and West Lyon Community School District policies; to develop aesthetic understandings and appreciations; and to discover and develop talents of students in the field of art. - Agricultural Education Instructor:
West Lyon Community School District is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated candidate to become the next 9-12 Agricultural Education instructor. Classes taught include Ag Business, Principles of Ag, and other Ag related classes as specified in the state standards for Agriculture, including an 8th grade exploratory course. In addition, the Agricultural Education Instructor will serve as co-advisor of the local FFA chapter and promote FFA activities as an integral part of the agricultural education experience.

The preferred candidate will be licensed in both 5-12 Agricultural and 5-12 Biological Science, or 5-12 General Science, or be able to obtain an endorsement in a science as this instructor may be teaching a pre-biology class and/or integrated science. - Industrial Technology Teacher
West Lyon Community School District is seeking a progressive educator to become the next 9-12 Industrial Technology Instructor. This position will have an emphasis in manufacturing both wood and metal, teaching such classes that meet the Iowa Standards for Industrial Technology. The prospective candidate will demonstrate an enjoyment in working with teenagers, be experienced in working with various tools in a shop setting and continuing the expansion of the industrial technology program. This instructor will join a two-person department and benefit from a collaborative environment that focuses on designing learning experiences to meet the needs of the 21st century working environment. - Substitute Food Service Worker

West Lyon has openings in its Nutrition Department for Substitute Cooks.  Substitutes are called to cover for nutrition staff employees when they are absent from work. If you are looking for part time employment in a fun work environment, this might be the position for you.

- School Bus Driver
Open positions are for substitute/activity drivers for the 2019-20 school year.  Candidates must have or be able to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver License with a School Bus Endorsement and a passenger endorsement. Completion of a post offer/pre-employment drug-screening test is mandatory.  Candidates must also obtain a Medical Examiners Certificate (DOT physical).  Upon initial hire by the district, applicants must complete the state mandated School Transportation Operation Program, which is a seventeen hour bus driver training course.  No experience is necessary.  The district is willing to train and assist qualified, interested applicants in getting their CDL and endorsements.


These positions will remain open until qualified candidates have been employed.
