My name is Janelle Rentschler.  I grew up in Lester and graduated from West Lyon in 1993.  In 1997, I earned my Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from Morningside College in Sioux City.  GO CHIEFS! Later in 2012, I earned my Master’s Degree in Leadership in Technology from the University of Sioux Falls.

I began my teaching career in 1997 in Boone, Iowa where I taught 6th grade math and reading in the Sixers Center.  When my husband graduated from Iowa State Veterinary Medical School, we moved back home to Larchwood, Iowa where we currently live with our family.  I continued my teaching career at West Lyon in 2001. I’ve taught 5th, 4th, and 3rd grade. I was also the Technology Integrationist for 2 years leading West Lyon into a 1:1 school.  This is my second decade of teaching! My favorite part of teaching is forming relationships with my students, learning about them and what they enjoy! Through this relationship, I can create learning environment that is both fun and challenging.

I have four children.  Mitchell, my oldest, graduated from West Lyon in 2018 and is continuing his education and football career at Northwestern College.  Taylor is a junior in high school. She is a four sport athlete, a band member, and maintains high grades. Emersyn is in 6th grade.  She enjoys gymnastics, music, and all things outdoors! Ryker is 6 and is finally a kindergartener this year. He loves dinosaurs and riding his bike! Ryker has been his siblings’ #1 Fan since he was born. My husband and I own the Tea Animal Hospital where Tom is the chief surgeon.  With four kids of all ages Tom and I are super busy. We spend most nights and weekends attending our children’s sporting and musical events. When I do have some free time, I enjoy cooking (not baking), reading, and Pinteresting!
